Idler arm wasn’t bad at all - didn’t time myself but maybe a couple hours including mistakes I made along the way learning what the hell I was doing when installing he new arm and bracket. Pitman arm was much more difficult .
That's definitely a stock track bar mount. As for whether to go back to the OEM length Pittman arm, that depends. A dropped Pittman REQUIRES a dropped track bar mount, they must match, but if your jeep is significantly . Just for shit's and giggles I would remove the pitman arm, clean the threads and apply red locktite then torque the bolt down to 185lbs. You will probably have to remove the trackbar to do this. From there check the track bar or panhard to see if it's got any play. That thread ain't wrong but idk about being able to run a non drop arm with 5.5" lift. He probably has crossover or high steer too. I'd see too much angle in the tierod ends with a good lift and no drop pitman.
The box I got was supposed to work with my stock manual pitman arm and center link, but for some reason my stock pitman arm was not lining up correctly and was too long. So to make a long story short my only solution was to take a one inch section out of the pitman arm and weld it back together. A buddy of mine used a MIG welder to weld it . The difficulty I was having was in removing the center steering link from the pitman arm, not removing the pitman arm from the steering gear box. Obviously the pitman arm remover is the way to go when doing that, and since the pitman arm connection faces downward, you can use whatever big heavy-duty puller you can find.

The pitman arm from herm has splines all the way around so it can be clocked in 10 degree increments. In order for me to have full movement lock to lock, I had to use the arm from Herm. I’d assume the gbox and arm are designed so the pitman arm can be installed parallel when the gbox is in the neutral position but for some reason on my Jeep .
It is hard to tell from the pics, in part because even a stock pitman arm will have some "drop" to it. The easy way would be to compare it to another Jeep with a stock arm. You'd be better off getting a 3" lift from a well reputed company- Evolution, rock krawler, metal cloak, etc. Since you're new- you need at least: springs, shocks, bumps (same size as the lift), lower front arms to fix castor, rear track bar bracket to center rear axle, adjustable front track bar to center front axle. In my case, I installed a RE 4.5" long-arm lift back in 2008. The instructions remain ambiguous even today as to whether or not to use the included drop mount or pitman arm. I wound up installing both and have zero bump steer or handling issues. I'm now at 90,000 miles on the lift with plenty of off road time.
