I have to frame in some openings with metal studs. The bottom plate is going into old oak flooring the top plate however has to attach to a steel beam (3/8"). I checked with the guys at a local commercial supply store and they recommended using a HILTI gun with the "red" caps and 3/4'' nails. They said you can shoot into the 3/8" steel.
